To our Beth-El Family:
We know this is a very busy and challenging time for everyone. As we approach the Jewish New Year, and as our clergy, staff and lay-leaders have been hard at work making plans (and pivoting from those plans, and making new plans….), our Rabbinic Search team has also been hard at work – preparing the best way to get YOUR input as we complete our application for our next rabbi.
We still have a lot of great data from the Visioning process five years ago, but we are interested in seeing how our congregants’ needs have changed over time. Your input will allow the Rabbinic Search Committee to better understand what the congregation is seeking in its next rabbi, right now in 2021.

- SURVEY
Oy, another survey? Really? Yes! But we promise this one is brief, and very important. Your feedback will make all the difference as we proceed with the search. Fill out the SURVEY HERE. It is also available at the Temple Beth-El website. Paper copies are available in the office, and if you need one mailed to you, please contact the synagogue office at (205) 933-2740.
This survey should be completed once by each adult member of your household. Please complete the survey online, or return the paper survey to the Beth-El office, by September 23.
- FOCUS GROUP
You are also invited, if you wish, to provide additional input via a Zoom FOCUS GROUP. This will be an opportunity for you to share additional detail and context about what is important to you in our next rabbi.
Your feedback will enable us to accurately define our needs as we prepare to announce this position through the USCJ (United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism) next month. We will keep you updated as the search process moves forward, but in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact Jacob or Rebecca if you have questions or comments.
