Thank you for your interest in “Deep Dive Into History: Jewish Life and Civil Rights.”
This is a self-paced course. You will gain access to the first module beginning July 14 and the course will conclude August 25th. Although you’ll complete much of the work on your own time, there will also be office hours (date/time TBD) and two in-person field trip / meet-ups…as well as a special event at the end of the course. This class will give you a crash course in Birmingham’s Jewish and civil rights histories AND prepare you to be a docent or “ambassador” for the Beth El Civil Rights Experience.
You do not have to have prior knowledge of these subject areas OR feel “tech-savvy” to participate. We are here to help!
Please fill out the information below and we will contact you before July 14 with all the information you need to get started. You can reach out to us at any time with questions:
Dr. Melissa Young (Project Historian / Primary Instructor): mfarahyoung@uab.edu
Margaret Norman (Director of Programming): mnorman@templebeth-el.net
