At Temple Beth-El we strive to create a welcoming atmosphere for young adults. We offer free High Holiday tickets to all college and university students and offer special highly reduced membership rates as well.

In addition, periodically throughout the year we offer special programs for this age group, including through partnership programs with You Belong in Birmingham. If you are a young adult looking for Jewish community get in touch with Margaret at

This event is supported in part by the Reva and Joe Engel Young Adult Engagement Fund of the Temple Beth El Foundation.

Tickets for this event are only $10, and you can purchase them here:

On Wednesday February 8th, TBE, TEE and You Belong in Birmingham/NextGen are co-hosting a viewing of American Birthright at Sidewalk Cinemas, along with a LIVE Q & A with filmmaker Becky Tahel.

This is a movie for you if you’ve EVER grappled with faith, identity, Judaism … in it Becky embarks on a journey to ask “why be Jewish” and the result is a riveting account of a young woman’s exploration into Jewish identity. I watched it and really found it meaningful, and if you’re on this email list I think it will resonate with you too!

Doors open at 6:00 p.m and movie starts at 6:30 p.m. We’re providing unlimited popcorn and of course Sidewalk has a full (and really nice!) concession and drink bar.

The movie runs about an hour and then we’ll do a Q & A with Becky, as well as have some additional time for mingling and a final l’chaim together to close the evening!

If you’ve got little ones, Sarah Weinberger will help coordinate group babysitting by request. You can reach out to her at
