Cemetery

Occasionally, burials take place at Birmingham’s older Jewish cemetery known as the Old Beth-El / Knesseth Israel Cemetery.

From Temple Beth-El: Proceed to 8th Avenue North and turn left (west). Proceed west on 8th Avenue North until 3rd Street North. Turn right on 3rd Street and proceed under the Interstate. After passing under the Interstate, proceed to the top of the little hill, and turn right which is 11th Court North. The cemetery will be on the left.

Unveiling/Monument Dedication

The custom in our community is that families conduct their own unveiling ceremonies. A monument may be unveiled at any time after Shloshim (thirty days). Resources and materials are available to help you prepare for such an occasion. For materials, please contact the TBE Office.
